FINE-TUNING

Individual and group tuning 30 min from Geneva

An adapted fine-tuning procedure is necessary at each step of the life of an instrument - whether old, new, or freshly out of a restoration intervention.

Harmony fine-tuning

Whether Baroque or modern, each instrument and every musician is unique. Demands are numerous: optimising acoustics, increasing the ease of play, highlighting a trait of character, enabling an evolution, balancing vibrations… Nicolas Saumagne listens to each requirement and establishes a common language to perform a precise fine-tuning work.

He puts his skills at the service of the most demanding players, fine-tuning trios, quartets as well as individual instruments.

Individual fine-tuning

An issue with articulation, emission, difficulties with harmony, a lack of amplitude can be due to several factors:

  • → An inadequate tension of the strings
  • → A badly located sound post
  • → A tired bridge...

Nicolas Saumagne will study your instrument and, according to its potential and to yours expectations, will offer you to adjust the existing fine-tuning when it is possible, or to change certain elements (sound post, bridge…)

This operation takes place in two iterations: first a study, preparations, adjustment of pieces and a first tuning, and then a perfecting stage with the musician.

Fine-tuning is a matter of personality. It is thus important to work harmoniously, the objective being to allow the instrument to sustain its potential over time.
